What is the Canine Good Citizen Test
The Canine Good Citizen Program was developed by the American Kennel Club because they believe that all dogs can be good dogs, and all owners can be great owners, all it takes is a little bit of training, lots of love, and of course, plenty of praise along the way.
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program is an expert-made training program designed to help you and your dog be the best you can be–together.
There are different tests that were developed by the AKC, and the test taken corresponds with the training received. The tests currently offered by Rais to Obedience Dog Training are the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and the Canine Good Citizen Advanced (CGCA).
After five sessions of training, you and your dog should be able to confidently pass the CGC Test. After 10 sessions of training your dog should be able to pass the CGCA. You will receive your certification paperwork which will then be sent into the AKC, and you will receive a certificate. You will need to pass the CGC before going forward in testing for the CGCA.
All dogs are encouraged to participate in the Canine Good Citizen program, all breeds and mixed breeds are welcome.
